A new island vibe mixed with some creative tile choices transformed this moldy and plain bathroom into a beautiful updated bathroom for this family of four.

Saying goodbye to their old shower space, we removed the bulk head above the old shower which was inhibiting steam from escaping the room and causing a lot of unhealthy and unappealing mold build up on the ceiling.  With the kids being old enough to not need a tub for bathing it was time to ditch the old tub and opt for a walk-in shower configuration.  This unique tile application works in this bathroom to play off both the light turqouise color on the walls with the large 24" x 48" middle wall tile, along with the more neutral 12' x 24" side wall tiles playing off of the floor tile outside of the shower.

Mixing tiles like this can definitely be risky if chosen wrong, but by letting the middle wall tile be the center focal point without the other two side walls not being a busy pattern they can work really well to create a special finished look.

Outside the shower the floor now features a polished large format 24 x 24 porcelain tile, with new 5 1/2" baseboard.  A new glass entry door and door trim were also swapped in to fully update the millwork, and a skirted toilet presents another feature in the bathroom to bring that modern feel.

Being an eye catcher upon entering the room, this double floating vanity featuring an additional matching vertical storage cabinet now give the bathroom a beautiful focal point outside of the shower.  The double sinks are now a massive upgrade versus the old single vanity, with the vanity also featuring a motion sensored under cabinet light strip when entering the bathroom.  New pot lights were added within the bathroom to brighten things and the large LED mirror over the vanity adds another modern element of flair and function, featuring de-fogging ability and additional light for the room.
