(Post Renovation)

Featuring a unique configuration, this kitchen renovation provided this Newmarket home with a beautiful new space along with lots of functional upgrades.

The two main functional objectives for this renovation were maximizing the amount of counterspace, along with opening up the kitchen to the dining area to give the main floor a bigger feel and provide more natural light to the entire main floor.

To address both these objectives without hindering the seating configuration in the TV / living room on the opposite side of the wall, a partial open concept entry way to the kitchen was created.  This new entry way into the kitchen meant a lot more space for multiple people to pass through simultaneously, created an open feel to the dining room, and created a much brighter main floor by utilizing the natural light of the kitchen's west facing window. By not fully opening the existing dividing wall it allowed for the perfect space that a television and fireplace could be mounted to on the opposite side of the "L" shaped wall for the living room area, providing the best layout for seating in this area of the home.

40" high upper cabinets were installed throughout to maximise storage capacity in this small kitchen, taking full advantage of all usable cabinetry wall space.  An unforseen challenge that was dealt with during this kitchen renovation came in the form of a very un-level sub floor due to the gradual sinking of one half of this older homes foundation since its originally construction.  This made tiling the kitchen floor a little of a challenge, but was dealt with by installing the floor tile in a ramping fashion at the kitchen entry way providing a gradual slope that would prevent against a constant tripping hazard

Lastly, some extra bells and whistles featured in this kitchen renovation:

-Waterfall quartz countertop finished ends

-Low voltage under cabinet light strips

-Natural stone lantern profile backsplash

-Under cabinet mounted microwave

-liquor cabinet + wine rack
